Neon Hitch has a tattoo on the left side of her back of a pineapple and bananas. She likes to wear headdresses with fruit in them.

She had the outline done by Stephen Valdez at Through Your Skin Tattoo in July 2016. We assume she’ll have it colored in at a later date, but we’ll have to wait and see!

Neon Hitch has a variety of tattoos all over the back of her right hand, including a variety of symbols on her fingers. The tattoos use a watered-down in for a henna-like appearance. She writes “My new tattoo for my bruva Shane who just passed.. And amy as his guardian angel. Healing process.” This is her second tattoo of Amy Winehouse’s name.

Neon Hitch has “Gypsy” tattooed on her wrist as a symbol of pride in her Romani heritage. Though gypsies are often looked upon with hatred, Neon is proud of her culture and says “I’m trying to stand up for my community and prove we’re not all bad.”

Neon has added onto the tattoo multiple times. It started out with just the word “Gypsy.” Then she added shapes in red-brown ink including an Eye of Horus which is an Egyptian symbol of protection. In October 2012 she had the symbols drawn over in black ink and altered some of the shapes, transforming the circle and square into spirals. She also added an outline around the whole tattoo at this time. The most recent addition was in September 2013, at the same that she got the swirl tattoo on her hand. On the back of her right arm, Neon Hitch has a tattoo of her sister’s name “Pema.” It’s done in a very stylized way with three lines for the “E” and a triangle for the “A”.

Neon Hitch is a songwriter as well as a singer and she co-wrote Ke$ha’s hit song “Blah Blah Blah.” Neon got this tattoo on a night of partying with Ke$ha after they completed the song. Ke$ha got a dollar sign on her hand at the same time. Neon explains:

“The song came about really quickly, and then to celebrate we both took the subway to Harlem and got tattoos. I tattooed my sister’s name ‘Pema’ because I love her so much. [My sister] got my name tattooed on her too.”

Her family are gypsies and she was raised in a caravan, traveling from place to place. As a child she was trained as a trapeze artist.
