Ruby Rose has a blue swallow tattooed on the back of her neck. Swallows are a common traditional sailor tattoo representing freedom.
This is one of Ruby’s older tattoos and she has had it re-worked. Pictured top-right is the original tattoo in 2010, which was smaller and was just an outline. The cover-up is filled in with shades of blue and looks more cartoonish.
Ruby Rose has two boxing-related tattoos on the right side of her upper back. The first part of the tattoo is a tribute to her godfather Lionel Rose, an accomplished professional boxer who was the first indigenous Australian to win a world boxing title. Lionel passed away in May 2011 at the age of 62. That same month, Ruby visited Sydney Australia tattoo artist Rhys Gordon to get a tribute piece. She got a tattoo on her right shoulder blade of a pair of boxing gloves and a laurel wreath with Lionel’s name at the bottom.
Ruby, whose birth name is Ruby Rose Lagenheim, was named after Lionel Rose but is not biologically related to him. He and her father were close friends. Back in 2012 Lionel’s family stirred up controversy by saying that they hadn’t had any relationship with Ruby since her parents’ divorce and alleging that she was using the name “Rose” to further her own career by association to Lionel. Though it’s true that Ruby didn’t have any contact with Lionel later in her life, she says that seeing him as a young girl had a major impact on her.
“I met Lionel five or six times as a young tacker and he was a huge inspiration to me,” she told the Herald Sun. “I didn’t have a dad. Those trips to Lionel’s, while very few and far between, were everything. We had a crummy life, we didn’t have any money, dad was like `how’s it going?, but Lionel had a real impact on me…He passed away as my godfather. They can’t take that away from me…I love him – and if he’s looking down on me from heaven, I know he would be proud of the things I do.”
One of the thing that Ruby did honor Lionel’s legacy was to train as an amateur boxer herself. In November 2012 she added onto the tattoo with two yellow lightning bolts and “The Thorn” which is her own boxing nickname. She entered a few amateur fights around the time that she got the tattoo, but it seems that since then she’s put her own boxing gloves to rest.
Ruby Rose has a rabbit tattooed on the right side of her lower back. The white rabbit holding a pocket-watch is inspired by Lewis Carroll’s classic book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
This tattoo seems to have been one of her more painful ones. She showed off her fresh ink in a February 2012 Facebook photo and wrote “And we done 3 hours I want to vomit on myself.”
India Westbrooks has an ace of spades playing card tattooed on the back of her left leg.
India Westbrooks has a tattoo of two jewelry chains on the front of her left thigh. The chains have clasps on the side of her leg and the tattoo is open the back. She got this tattoo in March 2016.

Vanessa Martinez has a tiny crescent Moon inked in black and red on her middle finger on the left hand.
Andrea Russett got her first six tattoos all at once from artist Chase Fiedler on January 19, 2017. This tattoo of flowers and leaves on her sternum is the largest of the bunch. She wrote on her instagram:
Yep. So. I had no tattoos a couple hours ago. Then I got 6 tattoos today. This one being the biggest and MOST FUCKING PAINFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ll post pictures of the rest later! Huge thank you to @rbitrary for making me a tatted betch! And also for KILLING IT w these tattoos. U da man.
The letters “MJAA” on Andrea Russett’s left hand represent the names of her family members: M for her father Mark, J for her mother Jacqui, A for her sister Anna, and another A for her brother Anthony.
“For the family,” She wrote on her instagram. “Every time I look at these I think of my parents and siblings and it makes me smile. The tattoos I get will always be for me. I don’t care if no one understands them or they don’t make sense to anyone else. Been a good day.”
Andrea Russett has a tattoo on her right forearm which says “55613” in red ink. It is a matching tattoo with her friend Sandra Poenar.
