Marzia Bisognin

Marzia Bisognin got this “shy” tattoo on her left forearm in July 2015. It was part of a session in which she got three tattoos, but she describes this as the most meaningful one.

For her whole life she has struggled with meeting new people and opening up because of her shy personality. However she has gotten much better at it and she got this tattoo to commemorate all of her progress. In a blog post, she explained:

By writing shy on my arm I can always remember that although my entire life I have been incredibly shy, I’m okay with it, because it’s a trait of my personality and it isn’t in the way of me achieving things in life. I will always be shy, but I can deal with it better now, and I actually like how being this way allows me to develop other characteristics, like listening and observing. Just because I’m quiet it doesn’t mean I don’t have opinions, or I’m not interested, or I don’t want to be a part of something  – I do, but in my own way.

Katya Elise Henry

Katy Elise Henry has a long roman numeral tattoo along her left forearm which says “LXVLXVIIILXXXVIIIXCIV”.  Though all of the digits are strung together on her tattoo, it represents four different numbers: “LXV” for 65, “LXVIII” for 68, “LXXXVIII” for 88, and “XCIV” for 94. We believe that this tattoo represents the birth years of her family members, with 65 and 68 for her parents Tawnya Nelson and Derick Henry, 88 for her older sister jewelry designer Tanaya Henry who was born in 1988, and 94 for her younger sister Gabrielle Henry.  However Tanaya’s is the only birth year that we can verify. Maggie Lindemann

This tattoo on Maggie Lindemann’s bicep, which she got on June 18, 2016, is her fifth overall and her first large piece. It says ‘you built a cast around your broken heart, and signed it yourself. you signed it “they were wrong.”‘ in all lowercase letters in a typewriter-style serif font.

These lines come from the spoken word poem “To This Day” by author Shane Koyczan which is about the long-term effects of bullying. It means that even though bullying has a deep and profound impact and leaves you feeling broken, you have to heal yourself and keep going because you have value and you know in your heart that all of the cruel things that other people have said about you are wrong.

On instagram Maggie wrote:

“this quote means so much to me, so I’m veeryyy happy for it to finally be a part of me, thank you once again @romeolacoste I love it so much.”

She told Ampd Up:

It’s from this poet that is my favorite poet, his name is Shane Koyczan. I just always have loved that poem and it’s always helped me when I needed help. So I just thought, why not get it tattooed on me?

Lucy Hale

Lucy Hale and her five fellow “liars” on the TV show Pretty Little Liars all got matching tattoos after they finished filing the final episode on October 28th 2016. Each girl got the first initial of the character placed on their index finger because of the shush in the opening credits, which was done exclusively by Lucy until the final season, where all of the girls took turns. Lucy’s tattoo is an “a.” for Aria Montgomery.

On her instagram she wrote “This happened. Thank you @shamrocksocialclub for taking care of us. We couldn’t not get tattoos to commemorate the show! And obviously on our “shh” finger ?” (more…)

Shay Mitchell

The six leading cast members from the TV show Pretty Little Liars celebrated their final day of filming on October 28th 2016 by getting matching tattoos of their characters’ initials. They chose their index fingers for the matching ink because of the shhhh that they all make in PLL’s opening credits to show that they are hiding secrets. Shay Mitchell got a lowercase “e.” for her character’s name Emily Fields.

In a snapchat video, Ashley Benson asks if she’s scared to get the tattoo, to which she responded “Yeah I am.  It’s exposed.  I have one [tattoo] and it’s white.” Shay’s white ink infinity wrist tattoo is barely noticeable, making this her first “real” tattoo.  Ashley on the other hand has lots of tiny tattoos.

In fact Shay was so scared of the pain that she didn’t even want the tattoo at first, and had to be convinced by the other girls. She told Refinery 29:

“I didn’t want to be a part of this at all! I don’t understand what’s wrong with Henna, why can’t we get something like that? Not because of the permanent factor, but because of it’s painful. And on your finger, it’s even more painful! So, I mean, I ended up doing it, I just held onto everybody’s hands and was sweating profusely. But, I made it.”
