Federica Pellegrini has a prominently displayed phoenix tattoo running up the left side of her neck. The Arabian Phoenix is a symbol of rebirth from ashes and change and she did this tatoo back on her 17 years when she moved from Verona to Milan.
Jordyn Woods has a tattoo of the Roman numeral “XXIII” on the back of her neck in honor of basketball legend Michael Jordan’s iconic number 23 jersey. Her own brother John Woods did the tattoo at Los Angeles’ Why Not Ink Tattoo in November 2015.
“Just landed in LA and decided to go get tatted by my brother @jwoodzart… Wouldn’t want anyone else to do this one for me. 23 forever,” she wrote on her instagram.
Kehlani has a large tattoo of ocean waves on the left side of her neck.
The tattoo on the side of Kehlani’s neck says “Perdida y Encontrada” which is Spanish for “Lost and Found.” “I think it’s a reminder if I do get lost again, I can always find myself,” she says.
Hailey Baldwin has a tiny cross inked on the left side of her neck. She is a devout Christian and has found her home at the celebrity-favorite Hillsong Church. “They’re very geared toward young people and making it applicable to everyday life, which I think is where people get a little confused in church, because it can be hard to relate to something so old school,” she told Fashion Magazine. Religion is not new to her, as she grew up going to church.
She views church as more of a community of believers than a specific religious sect, and cares more about the messages than the practices or rites. Speaking of her faith to Teen Vogue, she says “I don’t look at it as a religion. I look at it as your own personal relationship with God because, what I believe, it doesn’t say in the Bible that it’s a set religion and a set standard of rules. It’s your own personal relationship with God between you and him, and the Bible is a tool for you to be able to live that out day by day. Church is a tool for you to fellowship with other people that believe in what you believe in.”
Hailey often posts uplifting Christian messages on her social media accounts, and though she knows that not everyone shares her beliefs, “it’s something that I’m not afraid to share with people because I know how it inspires me — how it positively affects my life,” she told Teen Vogue. In real life she likes to surround herself with fellow believers since her faith is so important to her, and that can be hard for non-believers to understand.
Ruby Rose has a blue swallow tattooed on the back of her neck. Swallows are a common traditional sailor tattoo representing freedom.
This is one of Ruby’s older tattoos and she has had it re-worked. Pictured top-right is the original tattoo in 2010, which was smaller and was just an outline. The cover-up is filled in with shades of blue and looks more cartoonish.

Ash Costello has a pair of bat wings tattooed around the back of her neck with a fleur de lis at the center. She talked about her plans for this tattoo in an interview before getting it done in Fall 2015:
What I’m really, really jonesing for is a big neck tattoo. Very soon I’m going to be getting bat wings that are going to come up underneath [pointing to the sides of her chin]. Real big — I’m not just talking the back of the neck — I’m talking the whole thing. It’s a very serious commitment to get your neck tattooed.
Britney Spears got Kabbalah Hebrew letters inked on the back of her neck back in 2004 whilst touring overseas.
The Hebrew letters are supposed to promote “healing”
The letters make up one of the Kabbalah sect’s 72 names for their god, and at the time, Britney was trying to cope with her pressured life and took advice from Madonna, who belongs to this religious movement.
Sofia Richie has the word “clarity” inked on her neck in capital letters. She added this new tattoo to her body art collection at the beginning of November 2016 at Jon Boy’s tattoo parlor.
