Jesy Nelson got a tattoo of a skull and rose from artist Oliver Macintosh at Frith Street Tattoo in January 2014. The tattoo is on the outside of her left forearm, next to her previous rose tattoo which she got from the same artist only a month earlier. Ash Costello added the words “Love Kills” in red ink next to her razor wrist tattoo in February 2014.
Ash Costello took hold of a tattoo gun and gave herself this “Blow Me Up” tattoo on her arm in February 2014. The phrase comes from the DC Comics villain Harley Quinn, who says “I’m having a bad day. I’m sick of people trying to shoot me, run me over, and blow me up!” For Ash, the phase represents perseverance:
My tattoo says “blow me up” with a red and green heart. I’ve always felt like a Harley Quinn just looking for her Joker, that mad love, 2 villains, it means and no matter how much you try and blow me up, I’ll always keep coming back. So go ahead and blow me up then, but I’m still here, causing trouble, just waiting to cause some trouble with him instead.
Artist Shaun Kama covered Ash Costello’s old ohm tattoo with a colorful orange jack-o-lantern pumpkin in October 2013. Halloween in her favorite holiday and she likes dressing up like it’s Halloween everyday.
Ash Costello has a tattoo a razor blade cutting her wrist to represents her struggles with depression and everything that she has overcome. She writes:
“My Friday the 13th tattoo with the @nydrock boys. To remind me…..I have survived the worst times, the fucking worst, but I pushed through it and now I’m enjoying the best times with my best friends.”
She got this tattoo on September 13, 2013 as part of a tradition in which tattoo parlors give discounted tattoos on every Friday the 13th. Usually the tattoos have the number 13 in them, and Ash’s razor blade has “XIII” which is the Roman Numeral for 13.
“I have a lot of Friday the 13th tattoos because I’m a big advocate of $20 tattoos. I have my razor blade, and the heart, and the Misfits, and other little things.”
Ash Costello has a dark black crow with accents of purple and blue that spans the inside of her right arm. There is a quote in a banner: “It says ‘Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt,’ which is from one of my favorite books of all time, Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut,” Ash says. Artist Baba Austin started work on the design in February 2011 and completed it in May 2011.
“Before this one I would have said that tattoos don’t hurt, I really like the feeling, but this one hurt so bad. I don’t know if I’m like turning into a pansy. A good friend of mine Baba came up to me and offered me a free tattoo for Warped Tour. It’s like the biggest thing ever. I know this doesn’t make sense but I didn’t realize it was so big when he free-handed it, and then he started going and I was like ‘oh wow, I just ended up with half a sleeve and I don’t even know how.'”
Ash Costello and a friend got matching tattoos of the word “Believe” written in the Disney font in August 2010. Ash’s is on her right forearm while her friend’s is on her ankle.
Ash Costello got this tattoo above her right elbow of Mickey Mouse with her mother’s name “Sandra D” in July 2010. She writes “Mickey of course! Old-school pie eyes & my mom’s name, Sandra D. Innocent & virtuous, she raised me right.” She has said that her mom before more accepting of her inkings after this one.
In July 2010, Ash Costello got this tattoo of crooked piano keys on her right forearm. The design comes from the cover art of Cursive’s album The Ugly Organ, an album which she says “changed the way I wrote music.”
