Alexis Ren got the word “Duality” tattooed on the inside of her right foot during a trip to Barcelona, Spain in July 2017.  She visited artist Ese Black at LTW Tattoo for the simple inking and documented the process on her instagram stories.

She wrote about duality in an Earth Day post a few months before getting the tattoo:

You are a direct expression of the whole of the universe as it currently is; you (as everything else) is a brief movement in the dance of nature. You do not exist independent of the perceived outside; outside and inside are two sides of the same coin. (Duality)

Noah Cyrus tattooed the motto “stand still” on her arm in honor of her father Billy Ray Cyrus, who she says “always taught me to stand still when things get too crazy.”  He also has a song called “Stand Still.”

Her dad made the tattoo extra meaningful by getting his own to match — with Noah’s encouragement!  She got her tattoo in June 2017 and Billy Ray got his a month later in July 2017.  She told Vogue:

Something floated around from my dad’s side of the family is just to stand still. It just means that when everything is so hectic in your life and you don’t know what to do, just stand still and wait for your heart to tell you what to do, and it will take you to the right place. So, to stand still and take a breath in. It really does help me in certain situations. My dad and I have got it tattooed on our arms.

Chiara Ferragni has a tattoo on the back of her arm which says “VIAJANTE” meaning “traveler.” The jet-setting fashion blogger chose to have the tattoo written in Portuguese because she got it while in Brazil (though viajante also means traveler in Spanish). She visited artist Jorge Machado at Ipanema Ink during a 48-hour stay in Rio de Janeiro in July 2013.  A friend who was with her got the same word on her ribs.
