Dotwork Tattoos

Sherri DuPree-Bemis

Sherri DuPree Bemis got a chest tattoo in July 2018 featuring a rose and the words “up all night.” As a mother of three, her kids often keep her up at night. She was inspired by an illustration of a tattooed mom wearing a nursing bra, but rather than getting that design on her she got a tattoo similar to one that the cartoon mother has. She wrote on her instagram:

New Ink by the masterful @jwhitttattooer! (It’s now my favorite tattoo). When I saw @drawingsbynicole’s ‘Up All Night’ art (swipe for it), I totally connected with it and wanted to get a piece inspired by it; As always, @jwhitttattooer was able to interpret it perfectly and create this beautiful design. ?
I feel so blessed to know such talented, and humble people filled with genuine passion and creativity. They make the world a better place.

Maggie Lindemann got a large tattoo the back of her left upper arm from artist Romeo Lacoste in February 2018. She was inspired by Tim Burton’s classic 1993 movie The Nightmare Before Christmas and chose this image of the character Sally’s stitched-up hands holding a thistle flower.  She told Sidewalk Talk:

It’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.  It’s Sally holding the flower when she’s picking off the petals and Jack comes in singing to her….It’s my childhood favorite movie, so I had to get it tatted on me.

Alexis Ren got this rose tattoo on the left side of her rib cage in May 2017.  It is a tribute to her older sister Amber Glabach, whose middle name is Rose.  Tattoo artist Romeo Lacoste wrote:

Had @alexisren stop by last night for one of my signature mini roses. One thing that people can count on is that my tattoos will always heal looking perfect. The detail and highlights always heal flawless. Many artist can make a tattoo look good when it’s done for Instagram, but not many can make a tattoo hold it’s detail or keep it from fading. Thanks for trusting in the Line God.

Julia Michaels

Julia Michaels got a large peony flower tattoo on the back of her left forearm in February 2018. She visited General Electric Tattoo in Van Nuys, CA to get inked by artist Frank Allen, who has done similar blackwork floral pieces on many of his clients. This style uses crisp black outlines with tiny pointillism dots to create an illusion of shading.  Frank had never tattooed Julia before, but he did this inking and the scorpion on her other arm in the same session. “I got to do these 2 on my new Pal @juliamichaels. Thanks for your Trust,” he wrote.
