In June 2008, Rihanna got the date “11-4-86” in Roman numerals (XI-IV-LXXXVI) inked on her left shoulder. It’s her best friend and assistant Melissa’s birth date, and Melissa got the same tattoo with Rihanna’s birth date as well.

Sophie Turner got matching “07.08.09” tattoos with her on-screen sister and off-screen best friend Maisie Williams, representing the date that they found out they had been cast on Game of Thrones. Maisie’s is in red ink on her left arm, while Sophie’s is on her right arm in a flesh-colored ink which makes it extremely subtle. “I got it in peach because my mom was like ‘make sure it doesn’t show up.’ But now I’m showing the world,” she told E! Live from the Red Carpet at the 2016 Emmy Awards, where she first revealed the tattoo. The tattoo was only a few days old at the time so it will become even less noticeable as it ages.
They got their tattoos from artist Kat Paine at Belfast City Skinworks in September 2016. Game of Thrones had already announced that it would be ending after the eighth season airs in 2018. The tattoo is somewhat of a celebration of making it to the end of the show, though it may be premature as Sophie joked that she still doesn’t know whether her character Sansa Stark will actually survive. She’s seen the scripts for season 7 but season 8 hasn’t been written yet. Sophie and Maisie both have major roles in the show, but Game of Thrones has a reputation for killing beloved characters.
We were always planning from season 1, if we make it all the way through, hopefully we could all get a matching wolf or something. But we don’t know if we’re gonna make it, so Maisie and I were like “ok let’s get these ones before anyone kills us.” Which is so possible!
Finding out on August 7, 2009 that they had landed such a major role was hugely significant for Sophie and Maisie, who had both never acted on screen before, even though they hadn’t met each other yet at the time. (more…)
Maisie Williams and her Game of Thrones co-star Sophie Turner got matching tattoos from artist Kat Paine at Belfast City Skinworks in September 2016. It says “07.08.09” for August 7, 2009 — the date that she found out she was cast in Game of Thrones which was her first ever professional acting job. Maisie plays Arya Stark and Sophie plays her on-screen sister Sansa Stark. Both girls got the same tattoo just below their elbow, but Maisie’s is on her left arm while Sophie’s is on her right.
Lights and her husband Beau Bokan got matching tattoos to commemorate their wedding date of May 12, 2012. “We got wedding tattoos on like the day of the wedding,” she says.
Jahan Yousaf’s first tattoo was “6-8-10” on the left side of her neck. It represents June 8th, 2010, the day that she and her Krewella bandmates put their lives on hold to pursue their music career full-time. In a blog post, she explains:
6/08/10 is the day I decided to drop out of college and quit my side-hustle job along with my sister Yasmine, our former band-member Kris, and our manager Nathan Lim who found us on Myspace. Letting go of the security of my college education as well as my source of income was terrifying, but in the back of my mind I knew that Krewella would never see the light of day if we didn’t nurture the project with daily practice, discipline, and work ethic. If we didn’t make the decision as a group to abandon all other pursuits to commit ourselves to music, I think I would have spent my life always wondering what Krewella could have been. I think I would have been tortured with resentment for not taking a risk. When we got the date tattoo’d on our necks, it was symbolic of our promise to Krewella, to never give up, and in a sense trapped us from ever getting jobs that required us to cover the ink in such an exposed place.
Her sister Yamsine, who has the same tattoo in a different font, bought her the tattoo for her 22nd birthday. Since then, she has surrounded this tattoo with other inkings, but she hasn’t covered it.
All of the members of Krewella, including ex-member Kris “Rain Man” Trindl and their manager Nathan Lim, have tattoos commemorating 6-8-10 (June 8, 2010) — the date that they all put their lives on hold to pursue music full-time. Yasmine describes it as their “dedication day.” “We had been a band since 2007,” she told Lewis Howes, “but June 8th 2010 was the dedication day. Jahan dropped out of college. It was a couple days after I graduated high school. So it was the date we all, when Kris was in the group, we all three decided ‘this is gonna be the no-turning-back day.’ Who knows what’s gonna happen. We might not go anywhere, but we’re gonna try at least.”
Yasmine has a tattoo on her right index finger with the date “3-19-12” or March 19, 2012. Her mother got into a car accident on this day and nearly died. She tweeted “thankful my ma is alright. she got in a really bad accident today and the paramedics said that her seatbelt saved her life. BUCKLE UP, FOOLS”
The tattoo on Yasmine Yousaf’s right middle finger commemorates the release date of Krewella’s debut full-length album Get Wet. It says “09-24-13” for September 24, 2013.
India Westbrooks has a little tattoo on her left ribs that says: “God’s Will” with a date I-I-MM.
“My tattoo is “VIII IX LIV · V VII LI” its important dates to me in Roman Numerals for those asking”, Maria Fowler said on a twitter post
