Scout Taylor-Compton loves the Disney movie The Little Mermaid so much that she got a tattoo of Ariel. She explained to Current.com: I am deep, deep, deep fan of Little Mermaid. Yeah I know, childish. I love Ariel so much, she completes me, so much that I got her tattooed on my wrist. Everywhere in my house is Ariel-themed. Scout has the words “Time Of My Life” tattooed on her ribcage below her left breast. Much like her Ariel tattoo, this one is also movie-related. The song “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” is sung in the finale of Dirty Dancing, which is her favorite movie.
Jennifer Nettles has the word “Believe” tattooed on the back of her left wrist. She hasn’t spoken specifically about this tattoo, but the told the Colorado Springs Gazette “People tattoo for different reasons. I use a tattoo as a marker of time, to be reminded of a time in my life. It is something special and personal. There’s a lyric in my song ‘Take Me as I Am’: ‘We all live with the scars we choose.’ Some scars are given to us and some we choose.”
Sugarland singer Jennifer Nettles has a tattoo of a red heart with blue wings on the inside of her right upper arm which she got in 2006. A heart with wings is a fairly common tattoo design, and while some people seek originality in their tattoos, Jennifer likes the classic feel. She told US Weekly “It is an iconic tattoo, at least in the world of American tattoos.”
Country singer Whitney Duncan shows her patriotism with a grayscale American flag tattoo on her left shoulder blade. The tattoo was inspired by a trip that Whitney took in 2010 to perform for American troops stationed in Iraq and Kuwait.
Kellie Pickler has a tattoo of stars on her left forearm just below the elbow. The stars represent the USO, or United Service Organizations Inc., which provides entertainment to American troops. Kellie has played shows through the USO for American soldiers serving abroad all over the world. The three stars are meant to represent each of her USO tours, but the tattoo hasn’t kept up with her service as she’s now done five tours! She says “I have stars on my left arm for my USO tours, but I’m missing two.”
The military is very special to Kellie, who comes from a military family. She even took a wounded soldier as her date to the CMT Awards instead of her husband. She told Maxim “I come from a military family. My grandfather is a retired Marine, and I’ve always had a great deal of respect for anyone who serves our country. It really does take someone special to sacrifice everything. I don’t mean just their lives, either. There are men who are sacrificing the chance to hold their newborn baby!”
The “Faye” tattoo on Kellie Pickler’s foot is the name of her grandmother. Kellie has a special relationship with her grandma, who she says “was like my mom and my best friend.” Kellie was abandoned by her mother at the age of two and her father was in and out of jail, so she was raised by her grandparents.
Faye died in 2002 and Kellie honored her with the tattoo in 2008. Kellie also wrote a song “My Angel” dedicated to her grandmother, a characterization which is shown with a halo on the tattoo. She told Maxim magazine, “My grandmother would be mortified if she knew I had these [tattoos]. She’s passed away now, but she would say, ‘Tattoos are the devil!’ So my first tattoo, of course, was my grandma’s name.”
The tattoo on Lindsay Lohan’s left hand says “Live Without Regrets.” Sources told TMZ that she got the tattoo in January 2012 because “she [was] at a great point in her life and she wanted to do something she’d always remember.”
Its placement on her hand is notable because it is next to the heart which she got as a matching tattoo with her ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson. It would seem that Lindsay has no regrets about the tattoo or the relationship.
