Lena Dunham’s “Staunch” tattoo on her wrist is a matching tattoo with her best friend. The word choice was inspired by the movie Grey Gardens. “It’s from Grey Gardens, where they talk about being staunch characters,” she told Time. Staunch means loyal and dedicated.
Sarah Harding has two lines of Spanish written vertically on her right side. Though it is partially obscured by her dress, the visible portion reads “Sé quien eres y … mente no importante…” which means “I know who you are and … mind not important…”
Sarah Harding has the words “Dont Be Bitter – Glitter” written across her upper back. She later added a pair of birds on both of her shoulders.
The tattoo on Lana Del Rey’s right hand reads “trust no one.”
The tattoo on the side of Lana Del Rey’s left hand says “paradise” in cursive.
Michelle Branch wanted to do something witty and unexpected with her wrist tattoos, so she got tattoos stating the obvious — the word “Left” inked on her left wrist and “Right” on the right. She told VOA “Most people get something really meaningful written in cursive on their wrists and I thought from far away it just looks like something meaningful, beautiful. And I have a little bit of a goofy sense of humor so I thought well it’d be funny if people ask me what it is.”
Freja Beha Erichsen has the word “float” tattooed in cursive writing on the side of her neck.
Kelly Osbourne has a tattooed tribute to her father on her left forearm. The tattoo consists of the word “Daddy,” a pink and gold heart-shaped lock, a golden key, and a pink banner which reads “This Too Shall Pass.” She got the tattoo in December 2003 while her father Ozzy Osbourne was recovering from a quad bike accident.
Kelly Osbourne had the word “Lovely” tattooed on the inside of her left wrist. This is one of the tattoos that she has been removing. She wrote on her blog:
As humans we fill our conscience with clichés to selfishly justify the ridiculous things we do in life… Such as getting stupid tattoos. I have now undergone my third laser tattoo removal. All day I have found myself saying ‘no pain no gain’ or ‘pain is beauty!’ however the bigger lesson I have taken away from this horrendously painful experience is THINK BEFORE YOU INK!… Furthermore think before you make ANY permanent decision because its ok to change your mind before its too late!

Colleen D’Agostino and her bandmates in The Material all got matching tattoos that say “To Life.” Colleen’s is on her ribcage on her right side. “Spontaneous tattoo with my band. Our mantra – To Life,” she wrote.
