MTV “Faking It” star Katie Stevens has a flock of birds tattooed on her left forearm in memory of her friend Jason Gaviati who died of cancer. She got the tattoo only a week after his passing in November 2015. The six birds represent their years of friendship with a letter “g” at the bottom for his name.
Katie explained the significance in an instagram post: “Today I got a tattoo by @paultimman, the incredible artist who did all of @imgavi’s tattoos. Many of Gavi’s tattoos included birds. Now he will always be with me. A bird for every year of friendship, one more for him forever watching over me, and the g from his handwriting. I love you forever Gavi.”
Alessia Cara has a tattoo of a sailboat on her left wrist to represent “smooth sailing.” For her it is a symbol of hidden strength. She told Billboard:
“It’s a paper sailboat. They seem so frail, but when you put them on water they float. It’s a reminder that even though I’m small and seem weak, I’m not.”
Fittingly, the sailboat-tattooed-singer was chosen to record the theme song for Disney’s Moana, a movie about a girl who sets sail on a makeshift boat.
Hailey Baldwin has a cursive letter “G” tattooed behind her ear to commemorate Georgia Veach, a child with developmental disabilities. Georgia suffers from a rare and incurable brain disorder called Lissencephaly. Her parents Chad and Julia Veach are pastors at Los Angeles’ Zoe Church where they have spread Georgia’s inspiring story to the masses. Many friends and family members have gotten their own unique “G” tattoos in her honor, including celebrities like Ashley Benson, Justin Bieber, and Selena Gomez.
