Removed Tattoos

Marnie Simpson

Marnie Simpson had the initial “R♡” with an outline of a heart inked on her right wrist in honor of her ex fiance Ricky Rayment. He had a matching “M♡” tattoo for her.

They split up in 2015 and she now regrets the whole relationship, telling MTV “I would go as far as saying it’s probably the biggest mistake I’ve ever made in my life.” In that February 2016 interview, she suggested that she might cover the tattoo with the name of her Geordie Shore co-star and boyfriend at the time Aaron Chalmers. Thankfully she didn’t get another regrettable tattoo. She ended up waiting a while and then getting it laser removed beginning in November 2017.

She would consider getting inked again in the future if someone special comes along, telling Star Magazine “I wouldn’t say getting a partner’s name tattooed on you is a mistake.”

Wolftyla

Wolftyla has a tattoo on her back of the Eye of Horus, an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, royal power and good health.  In October 2016 she began the process of laser tattoo removal at Erase Spa in New York City to get rid of this tattoo. “Saying goodbye to old memories …. getting this tattoo removed today.  Can’t wait to show you the end results,” she wrote in a Snapchat post. Asia Argento

Asia Argento’s wrist tattoo is the name “PANOS”

She told BBC “It’s on my wrist, inside, and it says ‘Panos’. It’s this person that I met briefly that had a very strong impact on my life. I met him, like, for a day, and I had this name tattooed. It’s really crazy, this tattoo, I think it’s the craziest one I’ve ever made. But every few years I feel the urge to mark myself and mark the passages, as if my body was a map and every scar will always be with me, and every scar tells you where I’ve been, like an animal.”

She later had this tattoo lasered off and replaces with a new tattoo that says “Pause.”

Beyoncé

Beyoncé’s first tattoo was a mistake that she removed soon after. She still has scars on her left hip from the laser removal. The tattoo was rarely seen due to it’s location, but we know a lot about it from interviews with her tattoo artist and Queen Bey herself.

The removed tattoo was an angel in prayer on her left hip. She visited the studio of Mister Cartoon who has inked many of hip-hop’s biggest stars. She didn’t know what she wanted to get and after a long discussion they came up with the design together. The artist told the LA Times that Beyoncé was his hardest client to design for since he needed to create something fitting of a young diva who had never been inked before. Ultimately it seems like the size of the tattoo was too much for Beyoncé. She’s gotten more tattoos since, but they’ve been very small and very personal.

Beyoncé opened up about the tattoo — and it’s removal — in a 2010 interview with People magazine:

When I was 21, I actually did get a tattoo of an angel that I had painted. It was very, very beautiful. But the next day I woke up, and I was like, “Oh my God! What did I do?” So literally the next week, I started getting it removed. It’s gone now. I went through so many years of pain. I wish I’d taped it for young people to see.

She also sang about her family’s reaction to the tattoo on her song “Daddy” from her 2003 album Dangerously in Love:

I still remember I caught you crying cause of my tattoo
Could have said Beyoncé I told you so
Instead you said you’d get one too (Even my mama said y’all get one just like mine)

Megan Fox

Megan Fox once had a large portrait of Marilyn Monroe on her right forearm, but then had a change of heart and removed it. Marilyn struggled with depression throughout her life and died at only 36 years old. As Megan grew older, she no longer wanted to have a tattoo with such negative implications.

“I got it when I was 18,” she told Access Hollywood. “I just feel like her life was surrounded and shrouded in so much mystery and tragedy.  She was troubled, and there’s negativity with her life and with her death.  And I just feel like there are better things to have inked on your body than someone who struggled so much. So in getting older, I just decided that it was something that I wanted to get rid of.”

She began the process of laser tattoo removal in 2011.  The removal is far more painful than getting the tattoo. “It hurts really bad. It’s really painful. Getting them is not that bad, obviously, because I have so many,” she told Jay Leno. “It’s traumatic and it’s incredibly painful. They can’t numb it enough to make the pain go away.”

Heidi Klum

The large tattoo on Heidi Klum’s forearm may look like just a swirl, but it actually represents her ex-husband and her children. The large part of the tattoo is a stylized version of “Seal,” for her ex-husband singer Seal Samuel.

The four stars are for her four children, and each star has an initial in the center. From bottom to top, the stars represent each child in the order of their birth: “L” for Helene who is nicknamed “Leni,” “H” for Henry, “J” for Johan, and “L” for Lou.

Heidi and Seal were divorced in 2012 after seven years of marriage. We don’t know if Heidi will decide to remove the tattoo.
