In August 2009 Cassadee Pope got another bird with a banner reading “BND” on the opposite side of her arm from the first. “BND” stands for “Believers Never Die.” Cassadee got this tattoo after her band Hey Monday opened for Fall Out Boy on the Believers Never Die Tour Part Deux in April and May of 2009. All of Cassadee Pope’s tattoos are located on her right forearm. Her first tattoo was a bird with a banner of music notes coming out of its mouth, which represents her passion for music. She got this tattoo the day after she turned 18. “All my tattoos refer to my love for music,” she says. “I know I’ll never regret them because music is my life.” (more…)
Jasmine Villegas has a huge tattoo covering her right side. It has seen many iterations and been worked on by multiple artists. She initially started with a cluster of music notes which together formed a harmony. In October 2012 artist MeNaCe added a large ribbon banner weaving through the notes, but Jasmine wasn’t happy with it.
“I didn’t really like the scroll too much, how it made my side look,” she explained in an interview. “So to cover something big you kinda gotta go a little bigger! So I put big colorful roses on my side.” Artist Romeo Lacoste added the flowers. Rather than totally covering the music notes and scroll, he incorporated them into the final design and filled in the ribbon with purple ink.
After all of the alternations Jasmine tweeted “Not gonna lie…I wish I would’ve thought my side tattoo through more. dad you were right !! #dadsknowbest”
Sierra Kusterbeck has a traditional-style heart and banner tattoo on the inside of her left ankle which says “Older Men.” She explains:
Yea so I never really told you all about this tattoo because it’s an inside joke. Oliver Peck has been trying to give me this tattoo for 2 yrs. He has “younger girls” in a sacred heart on his knee. I was in Dallas on a day off after Warped Tour and I went to my friends place and realized Elm Street Tattoo was a block away. That’s Oliver’s shop. I ran there to say hi and ended up, somehow, finally getting this tattoo. I love it and it always reminds me of Oliver and Monkeybird. Some of the best people I’ve ever met. Plus, I love older men :)
Melissa Marie Green shows her love for her father with this “Daddy” tattoo on the back of her right hand. Artist Mikey Tedesco used the American traditional style technique and color palette for the design, which features a red heart with a banner and two yellow flowers with black leaves. This is the first large piece on Melissa’s hands, added in April 2015, and it is connected to her existing full sleeve with dots and stars.
