Astronomy Tattoos

Halsey

Halsey and her friend Sean got matching Venus and Mars tattoos on their elbows in July 2015. When asked about the meaning of her planet tattoo Halsey replied:

“My friend Sean is an Aries so his ruling planet is Mars and mine is Venus and his birthday falls EXACTLY on my half birthday so we got each other’s ruling planets!”

Musician Blackbear also has a similar black and red planet tattoo as part of his left arm sleeve. Halsey shared a picture of their two tattoos together, but it seems that the matching is just a coincidence since he had his tattoo before she got hers.

Maggie Lindemann added to her collection of celestial-themed right hand tattoos with this planet Saturn and three dots on September 25, 2016.  She told Sidewalk Talk:

I don’t even know the meanings behind my hand tattoos. They don’t all have meanings….The planets I just thought were cool. I do like the planets, I do like outer space and all that. I’m really into the moon. So I guess that’s why.

Ellie Goulding

In April 2016, Ellie Goulding got this geometric design tattooed on her left side by Dr Woo, the same artist who did a similar piece on the opposite side of her ribcage. Dr Woo created this original piece of art based on inspiration photos that Ellie brought in to his studio. It is inspired by stars, planets and galaxies, but he took lots of artistic license to create a geometric piece that isn’t too literal.

Bea Miller

Bea Miller has a tattoo on her right arm of the planets in our solar system in order of their distance from the sun. Earth is the third circle from the left. Jupiter is the largest circle while Saturn is distinguished from the rest with its rings. Bea’s tattoos is not done exactly to scale since the first four planets would be extremely tiny compared to the last four. The distance between planets is of course not to scale either. From left to right, all of the planets in the tattoo are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
