What Was Popular in 2011?
2011 has been a great year for Steal Her Style. We’ve published over 400 new posts and our traffic has grown from 1.4 million pageviews in 2010 to 4.5 million this year. Thanks to everyone who visited the site, spread the word, followed us (we’re on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr), and especially those who submitted posts.
I know it’s a few days late, but I love numbers (and Google Docs!), so I wanted to share a run-down of what’s been popular this year.

Who We Added
most popular new artists in 2011
- Dev
- Kreayshawn

- Porcelain Black
- Lexus Amanda
- Sherri Dupree
- Christina Grimmie
- Cher Lloyd
- Lil Debbie
- Bebe Rexha
Dev has had a huge year this year, blasted from relative obscurity to being featured on a number one mega-hit to seeing her own songs rise on the charts, so it’s no surprise that she was the most popular new artist. What you love most are the crazy pairs of sunglasses that she wears in her music videos.
No artist that I’ve posted about has ever been as polarizing as Kreayshawn. Some of y’all hate her, like really hate her. And yet enough of you have viewed her pages to make her the number two new artist even though I didn’t start posting her until August. Most of you are curious about her many tattoos, but others have come looking for her outfits. She was most popular in October when people were looking for Halloween costume ideas.
Steal Her Style has grown more diverse and includes a variety of music styles from metal to pop and everything in between. Pop artists have always had their place here – Ashlee Simpson and Katy Perry were two of the most posted about artists in the early days of the site. But it has been a goal of mine to post things that can’t be found on any other site, so I’ve included more of my personal favorite lesser-known pop singers like Kerli, Natalia Kills, and Ellie Goulding.
I’m always on the lookout for new artists with an edgy and unique style who will fit in here. I don’t post every single artist that’s suggested, but I definitely listen to and value your suggestions. There are quite a few musicians on Steal Her Style that I dodn’t know about until they were suggested to me. So let me know: Who should we add in 2012?
-Linda
I think you should add Carly Kalafus from Kicking Daisies.
Thanks for the suggestion! I have never heard of them before, I will have to check them out.
