Hayley Williams: Milk Kills Tee & Silver Overalls

Last night Paramore preformed at a benefit concert in Los Angeles for MusiCares – an organization which helps musicians receive treatment to recover from drug and alcohol addictions. The event also honored Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan and Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman for their support of the organization. Paramore played “Misery Business” and “That’s What You Get.”
Hayley wore silver overalls and a “milk kills” graphic t-shirt which come from two different looks in designer Jeremy Scott‘s Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear collection.

actually the phrase “milk kills” has to do with the fact that drinking milk will kill your high if you’re on ecstasy. the designer’s collection was dedicated to 90’s raver culture, hence the tongue-in-chic reference to ecstasy.
The slogan “milk kills” probably has something to do with the dairy industry and it’s horrible effect on animals and the environment. Good to see a fashion designer with a conscience :)
Drinking milk doesn’t mean you don’t have a conscience.
The large majority of people don’t have a clue where their milk comes from. The abuses of the factory farming industry are absolutely terrible. If you drink milk that comes from a factory farm (and most does), the cows are chained to machines all day, their udders are severely infected, their tails are cut off, they stand in their own feces all day,…I love Paramore and was THRILLED to see this shirt on Hayley!

I actually think this outfit is very cute on Hayley. It’s not something that I could pull off, but she wears it well.

I think the overalls are cute, but Milk Kills? What does that mean?
Well, not sure what the designers’ reasons are for the Milk Kills shirt, but Hayley doesn’t not eat any diary products to protect her voice. So I bet she means it in that sense. She’s always tweeting about how diary is evil, haha.

Actually, I think it may have to do with the fact that Hayley is starting to become a vegan. The shirt may mean that when we consume milk, we are actually killing baby cows (calves) because they would end up using all the mothers milk. :( it is sad, but sadly that is how the dairy industry works. That is why vegans don’t consume milk, along with many other strict vegetarians.
