This star tattoo on the inside of Avril Lavigne’s right elbow has gone through three iterations. At first it was a small blue star to cover a freckle. Then in April 2008 she added a black outline while her friend Allie got a tattoo at the same time. Finally, she had the whole tattoo filled in with black ink.
Lily Allen has nine tattoo small tattoos wrapping around her wrist like a bracelet. She started on the inside of her wrist with seven symbols — five to represent different major world religions along with a communist symbol and, oddly enough, Homer Simpson’s head. She later filled in the empty space on the back of her wrist with two more fun and lighthearted tattoos of a happy face and a cartoon dog.
Lily has never explained why she chose to get these symbols tattooed on her, but she has expressed some very mixed feelings about religion. She was raised Catholic but told Word magazine that she is “confused by religion” because the values that the religion preached were often at odds with how her parents acted. “I was brought up in a Catholic school and they told me gays were bad, adultery was bad and drugs were bad,” she says. “At the same time, all my mum’s friends were gay, my dad was having various affairs and there were drugs in the house when I was a kid – so it was a bit cruel.” She respects many religions and has said that she is particularly fond of Hinduism.

Avril Lavigne has a tiny star tattoo the right side of her upper back. It was initially done in blue ink. Like the star on her arm, she had it recolored with black ink to make it more opaque and permanent.
Avril Lavigne added a simple music note tattoo on the side of her right wrist below the heart, which has the initial of her ex-husband Deryck Whibley. (more…)
On the side of her left wrist, Avril Lavigne got her ex-husband Deryck Whibley’s first initial “D” in a pink heart, while Deryck got an “A” in heart in the same location for Avril. Though Avril and Deryck are now divorced, they remain good friends and Avril has not covered the tattoo.

Avril Lavigne’s first tattoo was a star on the inside of her left wrist in the style of her Let Go album artwork. She got the tattoo in 2004 while working on her follow-up album. Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody, with whom she co-wrote the song “Nobody’s Home,” also got the same star on his wrist.
Brandi has a feather with beads on the side of her right wrist, which is probably a tribute to her Native American heritage. The Cyrus family are part Cherokee and many of them have Native American inspired tattoos including dreamcatchers (on Miley and Trace) and Indian chiefs (on Trace and Billy Ray).
