Leona Lewis loves horses so much that even after getting a poem about horses inked down her spine, she got a second horse-related tattoo. This one is a tiny horseshoe on the side of her left wrist.
Leona and her family spent time in the British countryside, where she developed a love for horse riding. “I have always lived in London, but never saw myself as a city girl,” she said. “We used to stay at Fontgary and I’d go horse riding down there in the countryside. I used to love it because it was somewhere free and not small confined spaces.”
The writing tattooed along Leona Lewis’ spine is a poem that she wrote herself about her favorite animal–horses. It reads “Their beauty captures every eye, a gift from God for all mankind, they lend us wings so we may fly, to ride a horse is to ride the sky.” Speaking of her love for horses, Leona told the Guardian “I love hanging out with my horse, chilling. They’re so amazing and ethereal. I could hang with horses all day.”
Leona Lewis won’t reveal the exact meaning of the Arabic writing which she sports on her left wrist. She shares the tattoo with her ex-boyfriend Lou Al-Chamaa whom she has known since age 10 and dated for many years until their breakup in 2010. “It’s incredibly private and something that we both had done,” she told Mirror. “I can’t reveal what it is. Some things need to remain private for me.”
Leona Lewis got the flower tattoo on her left side as a tribute to her boyfriend Dennis Jauch. “I was in Berlin with my boyfriend and it seemed like the right thing to do,” she told Fabulous, “I wanted to mark the moment, so I went into a tattoo parlour and had a little flower done. It represents starting afresh, something blooming.”
