Mickey Mouse sneakers

photo posted by Hayley Williams on tumblr

Hayley Williams posted a picture on her tumblr of her Mickey Mouse print sneakers. These Canvas Black and White Mickey Mouse Shoes for Women are specially made for Disney World and Disneyland and unfortunately they are sold out online. Hayley tweeted that she got her pair at Disneyland in California, so they may still be available at Disney parks if she got them recently. She didn’t say how long she’s had them, but they don’t look like they’ve been worn very much!

A while back, Hayley Williams posted this photo showing off her Marilyn Monroe cardigan. “Saw My Week With Marilyn. My Grandat has educated me on that woman since I was a baby… Was nice to get a glimpse into who she actually might’ve been,” she wrote. Hayley has worn a lot of Marilyn Monroe-related clothing int he past including three different t-shirts and a hoodie. She also used Marilyn as inspiration for the custom outfit which she wore for Paramore’s VH1 Divas performance for the American troops in Kuwait.

This Wink Intarsia Cardigan is from Betsey Johnson, and thankfully it’s from the lower-priced Pink Patch line. It’s currently marked down to $69.50 and there are also a few on eBay.

I’m going to be writing a few posts about celebrities whose style I admire and what better place to start than with Hayley Williams, whose clothes I’ve been blogging about for five years now. When I first started listening to Paramore in spring 2006, I identified with Hayley’s style because we dressed the same way. We both wore “quirky” thrift store t-shirts, souvenirs from places I’ve never visited and little league tees with other people’s names on them. I liked her style, but I didn’t necessarily get any ideas from it because it was so similar to my own.

my take on a Hayley Williams outfit

It wasn’t until that summer on the 2006 Warped Tour when Hayley really started experimenting with her style and I took notice. I already had a big collection of crazy tights – a checkerboard printed pair was my favorite in high school – but I usually wore them with skirts. Wearing them under shorts? Genius, I thought.

Surely Hayley wasn’t the first person to ever dress that way, but there aren’t many people in the public eye with that sort of style. It’s cool to have a young female with spunky clothes to look at for inspiration. Because I had identified with Hayley in the beginning, it made her style seem more approachable even as it got crazier and crazier. I thought “if she can do it, I can do it too.” There are many times where I’ve seen a trend and didn’t think I could pull it off until I saw how Hayley styled it. I’ve tried hot pink eyeshadow, red hair, and skinny jeans in every color. But more importantly, she’s helped give me the confidence to be adventurous with my own style in my own ways.

As it turns out, Hayley’s style is fairly easy to replicate. It can be quite intimidating to try to copy a look that relies on loads of layers and piles of accessories. Hayley’s style on the other hand is all about having a few bold pieces that speak for themselves and don’t need lots of jewelry to make a cool look, be it striped tights or split-leg jeans. Most of the time she just wears some cool skinny jeans with a t-shirt and sneakers. I think that level of approachability is what has led so many people to admire her style.

Hayley has some elements in her style that have stayed the same even though her style has evolved and changed in many ways. She loves bright colors, stripes, and animal prints and (almost) always looks very casual. Hayley’s style has gone through many phases, some of which I’ve liked more than others. A brief menswear-inspired phase in fall 2007 and spring 2008 didn’t excite me much at the time, but as my own style matured those outfits have because some of my favorites. However the outfit that I’ve chosen to “mock” for this post is really quite a simple one. It’s inspired by a look that Hayley wore on Paramore’s 2009 summer tour with No Doubt, when Hayley wore a black and white striped ribbed tank much like mine with acid washed jeggings and black sneakers.

Hayley Williams in a photoshoot for Paramore's January 2012 Alternative Press cover

These Cheap Monday Moss Ice Narrow Skinny Denim Jeans from Hot Topic ($65.00) are really similar to the mustard-colored skinny jeans that Hayley Williams wore in Paramore’s January 2012 Alternative Press photoshoot. I believe that her exact pair is from Cheap Monday as well, but they are a higher-waisted style like these.

Hayley also wears the Sailor Girl Intarsia Cardigan from Betsey Johnson (sold out) and red Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Hi-Tops ($45.00).

Here are three pairs of rhinestone cat-eye sunglasses similar to the pair that Hayley Williams is wearing. I think that hers are baby blue but they could be white, it’s hard to see anything in these pixely Instagram photos!

  1. 50s Blue Rhinestone Cat Eye Sunglasses – $5.99 at Just For Costumes
  2. Tiffany Blue Frenchy Cateye Sunglasses – $12.00 at Unique Vintage
  3. 50′s Cateye Rhinestone Glasses Adult – $6.95 at Hip Hop 50s Shop

Hayley Williams: CM Punk T-Shirt

photo from Paramore.net

Hayley Williams is wearing a t-shirt from wrestler CM Punk, who is a good friend of Hayley and her boyfriend Chad Gilbert. CM Punk is also famously straight edge. The tee has his “In Punk We Trust” seal on the chest and “Best in the World” on the back. You can buy these tees from the WWE Shop in men’s, women’s and youth sizes for $19.99 to $24.99. Hayley’s looks like either the mens or youth because the girly tee has a much smaller logo.

Hayley Williams: Gray Leopard Skinny Jeans

Paramore live in Porto Alegre, Brazil on February 22, 2011 - photo: Daniel Vettorazi

I’m not sure if these are the exact pair, but the Leopard Loopback Pants from Express ($59.90) definitely look a lot like the gray leopard print skinny jeans that Hayley Williams wore during Paramore’s 2011 South America tour.

Hayley Williams mesh dress

Hayley Williams at the Fueled By Ramen offices

Back in September Hayley Williams wore her Dimepiece Designs Skeletons in the Closet Maxi Dress ($48.00) with an asymmetrical white fishnet tank/dress over it. You can get a similar mesh top from Lulu’s for $15.00.
