Cassadee Pope of Hey Monday

Hey Monday live on the Dirty Work Tour at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ on March 25, 2011 by Anthony Diaz

Cassadee’s exact bodysuit is the Bebe Burnout Stripe Ruffle Bodysuit, which is sold out in pink but still available in black and blue (you might be able to find the pink in a store). The black version is currently on sale for $26.00 while the blue is $44.00. She has paired it with the high-waisted Forever 21 shorts (sold out) which she often wears.

Cassadee Pope’s boots look to be the Black Check Trim Rain Boot by Burberry, which sells for $250 at Nordstrom. Cassadee doesn’t normally wear things this expensive, so it’s possible that hers are an imitation.

Cassadee Pope | Hey Monday

Hey Monday's Cassadee Pope performs in an American Apparel bodysuit at the Recher Theatre in Towson, MD on October 26, 2010

When I heard Cassadee Pope say in an interview that she tries not to wear the same outfit twice on stage, it really stuck out to me since I’m used to blogging about Hayley Williams, who often wears the same outfit every night for a whole tour.

Cassadee does wear the same pieces multiple times – she wore the same faux leather shorts with different tops – but she mixes and matches pieces so that each outfit is unique. She has a very defined style, and she keeps a cohesive look by wearing a lot of pieces that are similar to each other. For most of Hey Monday’s fall tour, she wore bodysuits with high-waisted shorts or skirts.

Paramore at WaMu Theater

Hayley tends to wear more expensive clothes, but she gets a lot of use out of them. Some fans got upset that Hayley had changed from her previously thrifty ways when she bought a pair of leopard pants costing nearly $200 (pictured on the right), but she wore the same pair of pants virtually every night on Paramore’s spring 2010 Pacific Rim and United States tours – about 4 months of touring in the same pants. So even though Cassadee shops at more affordable stores like Forever 21 and American Apparel, her tour wardrobe probably ends up costing more. Whose wardrobe was a better investment is a matter of opinion.

Which fashion philosophy are you? One favorite piece or a mix and match wardrobe? I’m a bit of both, but I’m more like Cassadee. Recently my go-to outfit is a button-up shirt with ruffles at the neck under a v-neck cardigan, and I have a lot of each that I mix and match. But I tend to wear the same pair of acid wash jeans and all-black Converse high-tops with everything.

Hey Monday's leading lady Cassadee Pope showed three lucky fans how to rock out at Buffalo Exchange in NYC.

Hey Monday’s Cassadee Pope went shopping with 3 fans for Alloy’s Girls’ Guide. Her main piece of advice to the girls is: “If you don’t think you look good, and you’re not comfortable, then everyone’s gonna see through it.”

more from the video:

Do you ever feel like you have to be extra girly, being in a band with all guys?
Since I first started in the band, I’ve always been kind of afraid to go with my femininity and wear heels or dresses or whatever, and you know, in time, I kinda realized that if that’s who I am, then they’re definitely not gonna look at me and be like “whoa, why are you wearing that?” because they’re so open-minded.

How do you get your inspiration for your stage outfits?
I guess over time it kinda evolved. I used to wear t-shirts and sneakers and stuff, and then I wanted to do something different and kind of make it a little more exciting for myself, not just the audience.

How do you deal with criticism like that, like keep your confidence?
It took a while, but you know, I obviously have been embarrassed by some things that I have worn in the past. We’re all growing, no matter how old we are. And it happens, and you know, it just so happens that my growth is publicized and people see it. I’m a regular person growing up and changing my style every one in a while.

Cassadee also shared her top 5 winter wardrobe must haves:

  1. Anything Betsey Johnson. She’s my favorite designer and I love her wild, girly looks.
  2. A Black One Piece Romper- So versatile, it can be worn year round.
  3. Combat boots – a way to punk up any girly look
  4. Fitted Leather Jacket – seriously, will they ever go out of style?
  5. Bold Jewelery – mix and match with funky styles, the more you have on the better!
