Pet Tattoos

Ruby Rose

In January 2014, Ruby Rose got a tattoo on her left upper arm which says “Be the person your dog thinks you are” in hand-written letters. She explained its meaning to The Cut:

“Dogs: They have a love for you like you could do no wrong. The way they look at you is so amazing. They never get bored of you. You’re perfect to them. Imagine that you were the person that they see all the time. Nice, giving, caring, loving, and even patient when you have to pick up their poop. You’d be the best version of yourself.”

Miley Cyrus has a tattoo on the back side of her forearm that says “LEETLE” — a slangy misspelling of “Little.” We’re not certain who or what this tattoo refers to, as Miley has called two different dogs her “leetle gal” in social media posts. We do know that Miley’s friend Katy Weaver has a matching tattoo in the same spot.

Kirstin Maldonado got her sixth tattoo on her right forearm in August 2016. She made a special trip from Los Angeles to New York just to get tattooed by artist Stefano Alcantara during the United Ink expo.  “In 2012 I swore I’d never get my first big(ger) tattoo/art if it wasn’t @stefanoalcantara !!! Though it looks like a wolf, it is actually her dog Olaf, who is a husky.  He was named after the snowman in Frozen and has his own instagram account with hundreds of photos. Olaf is white with blue eyes, and the tattoo is done all in black and white inks except for the blue ink in his eyes.

In September 2015, Demi Lovato got this writing tattoo on the inside of her left foot which is very faint in all photos. It says “Buddy was here” in memory of her dog Buddy who was killed by a coyote in her own backyard. The font was specifically chosen to look like a child’s handwriting and the letter “h” is written backwards. Demi has also created t-shirts with the same design which she sold during the Future Now Tour and in her online merch store.

Buddy, a maltipoo (Maltese/Poodle cross-breed) puppy, was a Christmas gift from Demi’s then-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama in December 2014. Though she had Buddy for than a year, the adorable pup garnered a following of over 300,000 fans on his instagram page. She first announced his death in Twitter post on July 28, 2015:

“We are absolutely heartbroken to be writing this but Wilmer and I are devastated to inform you that we lost our little angel Buddy last Sunday.
