Jeremy Swan Tattoos

Sherri DuPree-Bemis

Sherri DuPree-Bemis has a tattoo on her upper right arm featuring the characters Mr. Tumnus (a half-goat) and Lucy Pevensie from the C.S. Lewis book series The Chronicles of Narnia. Artist Jeremy Swan did the tattoo in July 2013. It honors Sherri’s daughter Lucy Jean Bemis who was born a few months prior in February 2013.

She writes: “Nearly 20 years ago I first heard the story of C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe (my mom @kimbrtones read it to us as kids) and I decided that, one day, if I ever had a daughter I would name her “Lucy” (after little Lucy Pevensie). It’s mind blowing that dream from my 10 year old self came to fruition and that I was given/trusted with that gift. The gift of my own little Lucy! Your dad @maxbemis and I love you so much kiddo! Thank you to @swanjeremy for creating this beautiful tattoo in her honor. Art by Pauline Baynes.”

Sherri DuPree-Bemis got this portrait on her left forearm in May 2013. It was her first tattoo to incorporate color. The girl in the tattoo is a character from her husband Max Bemis’ comic book series Polarity who was loosely based on Sherri herself. It was drawn by Jorge Coelho and tattooed by Jeremy Swan at Broken Art Tattoo. Max got a tattoo of his own at the same time featuring a different character from Polarity. (more…)
