Demi Lovato got a tattoo of a lion’s face on the back of her left hand in August 2017. She stopped by artist Bang Bang’s New York City studio while she was in the city for the Time 100 Gala.
The lion has many meanings: it is the symbol for her astrological sign Leo, a icon of strength, and a reference to her song “Lionheart.” The song is about about finding strength through love and was partly inspired by her deceased dog Buddy, whom she called her little lion heart. A lionheart is someone with exceptional courage and bravery.
Demi has said that if she were any animal she would be a lion and if she could have any animal as a pet she would have either a lion or a unicorn.
Amber Rose maintains a good relationship with her ex-husband Wiz Khalifa, with whom she shares a son Sebastian Thomaz, but she didn’t want her face on her arm now that they’re no longer together. Rather than removing the tattoo, she returned to the original artist Bobby Serna in August 2017 to give it a new look. Serna transformed the face into that of Amber’s rockstar idol Slash from Guns N’ Roses. She already had a full-body portrait of Slash playing his guitar on her forearm.
Amber Rose completed work on her right arm sleeve with the addition of this locket on her wrist in December 2015. The hyper-realistic design includes shiny glass beads and a heart-shaped gold filigree pendant with a keyhole in the center.
Julia Michaels has a tattoo of a geometric anatomical heart with an eye crying in the middle of it on her right arm. The crying eye represents a bit of her vulnerability and the whole design was inked on November 3, 2016 by talented artist London Reese.
As cliche as it sounds, it’s because I wear my heart on my sleeve. And we put the eye in there because it’s my way of showing myself a little bit. And showing that I’m slowly coming out of hiding. Because I do, I hide, and I’ve gotten so content with hiding over the years.
