Gabi DeMartino Tattoos

Gabi DeMartino has a tattoo on her left ankle featuring three of the flower logos from designer Louis Vuitton’s iconic monogram print. She was inspired by fellow YouTuber Jeffree Star, who has Louis Vuitton logos on his knuckles.

She chose this design simply because she likes the way it looks, along with the bow on her wrist that she got at the same time.  She got both tattoos in March 2018 as the weather was beginning to heat up and she thought that an ankle tattoo would look great with her spring and summer shoes.  In her vlog she explained:

I’ve only ever got meaningful tattoos, so I’ve never got a design tattoo or one that just looks cute. So I’m going to get those little Louis Vuitton flowers on my ankle so that when I wear heels it looks super cute….These are tattoos I’ve thought about for a long time now and I just want to go ahead and get them done.  I want them for summer — summer’s like my favorite.

She thinks that it’s fine to get a tattoo just for its appearance, and wrote on her instagram:

“Never got a tattoo before that was just for looks/fun. My tattoos that I have are all meaningful so it was super fun to get a small lil design that means nothing. And that’s totally okay!”

Gabi loves high-end fashion and posts luxury haul videos, so it’s no surprise that she’s got a lot of Louis Vuitton items in her million dollar closet.  And we mean a lot — she’s got at least 13 LV bags. In the monogram print she has a suitcase, travel bag, speedy handle bag ($1,000), mini backpack ($1,960), popincourt satchel, saint cloud crossbody, and a toiletry bag ($650). In the Damier checkerboard print she’s got the keepall travel bag ($1,840), neverfull tote bag ($1,320), sperone backpack ($1,950), eva clutch, cosmetics pouch ($375), and zippy wallet ($805). She wears Louis Vuitton clothing as well.  We’ve seen her in a bikini, denim jacket ($1,580), hoodie, blue scarf ($590), pink scarf ($590), and silk scarf.  She even has a Louis Vuitton monogram print pillow in her closet.  All in all, that’s around $20,000 in merchandise.  So it’s safe to say that she was already very committed to the brand before she got it inked.

Gabi DeMartino got an outline of a bow tattooed on the back of her wrist in March 2018.  Her first two tattoos were both of writing so she wanted to get ornamental designs for her next few.  The bow was inspired by a bracelet she has with pearl beads and a bow charm, so the tattoo is like a piece of jewelry that she wears all the time.  Even though it’s not deep and meaningful she still thought about it for a long time before committing.  And she loves how cute it looks!

Gabriella DeMartino’s wrist tattoo says “once upon a time…” which is the first line of most fairy tales.

She kept quiet about the meaning of the tattoo for a while because it’s so deeply personal. She got it for herself and didn’t feel like she owed an explanation to anyone else. But she finally felt ready to talk about it in a May 2017 vlog, where she explained that the tattoo covers up old scars from cutting herself and reminds her that there can be new beginnings. She was sick of seeing reminders of the dark times in her past and wanted instead to see a positive and uplifting message.

So basically at the beginning of every book it says ‘once upon a time.’ Growing up in high school I was bullied severely. I would cut myself. I have scars all over my wrists, it’s disgusting. I’m not proud of it….It’s a place where I really want to fill up with tattoos because I don’t like what’s on there. I don’t like seeing it. I want a better reminder….I thought it would be wonderful if every time I look down on my wrist I don’t see scars, but I see the beginning lines of a story. And that is ‘once upon a time.’ It’s just a reminder that if I ever feel that low again — which I hope I don’t — it’s a reminder that it’s still the beginning. And it’s up to you if you want to end your chapter, or if you want to add another chapter. I don’t know about you guys but I am totally down for a ton of other chapters.

Her hard times in high school were just one brief chapter of her life, even though it didn’t feel that way at the time. Gabi encouraged any viewers who might be thinking about self-harming to stay positive:

I wish I never did it. To those of you who are going through anything hard, please don’t do it. It may seem bad now but everything is going to be better later on, I promise. When you’re in high school you’re stuck in this little world and you think that all that exists is in that high school, but when you graduate high school there is SO much — so much! And that was just one little portion of your life and one little portion of your world. But in high school it feels like that’s all you know. It’s really easy to get wrapped into all that stuff.

Gabriella Demartino has a tattoo on her lower back in the right side, a french quote saying: “la vie en rose”, also translated to be “life through rose colored glasses.”
On her Instagram she said that “the idea is to depict a state where everything appears rosy and cheerful to you. It’s about a state of bliss when everything around you is a source of joy. This quote comes from my all time favorite Audrey Hepburn movie called Sabrina, where she overcomes a depression like state and she speaks of this quote while expressing how she has overcome it. This is one of the most self empowering scenes and I can say this quote has helped me see the world truly from a different perspective. ???? Whether you’re against tats or not, this was so emotionally satisfying.”
