Ash Costello Tattoos

Ash Costello has a tattoo on her right forearm of two hands holding a heart and crown. The design comes from traditional Irish Claddagh rings. The hands represent friendship, the heart represents love, and the crown represents loyalty. Claddagh rings have historically been used as engagement and wedding rings, and Ash got the tattoo shortly after her March 2018 engagement to Jimmy Trigger.

Ash Costello and her boyfriend Jimmy Trigger got matching bat wing tattoos on their hands in September 2016 from artist Danny Anchor. It is the first tattoo on her left side.

Ash has described Jimmy and herself as “two bats in a cave.” She posted a picture of their two tattoos together captioned with the Lana Del Rey lyrics “No one even knows what life was like, now it’s paradise, no one even knows how hard life was, I don’t even think about now because, I finally found you.” It seems that they had only been dating for a month or two when they got the tattoos.

Ash Costello has a sloppy looking heart with the letters “BF” on her right forearm which was done by a friend with a tattoo gun.  We think the “artist” behind the ink is Escape The Fate lead singer Craig Mabbitt.  A year earlier, Ash tagged along with Craig while he was getting a tattoo and she ended up grabbing the gun and giving him “BFF,” a heart, and a smiley face.

Ash Costello got this tattoo of a coffin on her right forearm from artist Danny Anchor at Illuminati Tattoo Lounge in January 2016.  The number “714” inside the coffin is the area code for the greater Los Angeles, California region, where she grew up.

“I have lots of Anaheim pride and I don’t know how I’ve never gotten a ‘714’ tattoo — the area code of where I live,” she told Fuse, “I’ve always wanted one. It’s just there’s always some other crazy idea that I have that I want to get first. So I actually really want to get ‘714’ tattooed on me.”

All of the band members and crew have their own versions of this tattoo on different body parts. Rather than having the design in red, as it appears on the album, they opted for black ink with a red outline so that it stands out more. The album artwork was designed by graphic artist Eve Saint Raven.

Ash Costello has a pair of bat wings tattooed around the back of her neck with a fleur de lis at the center. She talked about her plans for this tattoo in an interview before getting it done in Fall 2015:

What I’m really, really jonesing for is a big neck tattoo. Very soon I’m going to be getting bat wings that are going to come up underneath [pointing to the sides of her chin]. Real big — I’m not just talking the back of the neck — I’m talking the whole thing. It’s a very serious commitment to get your neck tattooed.
