My Style Inspirations: Demi Lovato ...

Demi Lovato Remember December

Demi Lovato in her "Remember December" music video

I’ve written about how Dev and Hayley Williams inspire my style, and now I’m back with another post, this time about Demi Lovato. I’ll admit that I’m not so in love with her clothing at the moment, but over the years she has had some killer outfits. I loved her black hair and dark clothing phase from a few years ago, and one outfit that really epitomizes everything I like about her style is the black and gold outfit from the “Remember December” music video.

It so happens that “Remember December” is also my favorite song of hers, which is perhaps not a coincidence but rather a reflection of how well the music and the fashion fit together. The song starts out with Demi singing sweetly and then kicks into an explosive chorus. Likewise, her outfit has a bit of a sweet and feminine feel while simultaneously looking totally badass. Those studded gloves are amazing!

If I had her outfit in my closet I would totally wear it, but I don’t so I’ve taken quite a few liberties here in my quasi-recreation of her outfit. My goal was simply capture what it is that I like about her look within the confines of my own wardrobe. Here’s what I came up with:

me

my inspired outfit -- necklace: Forever 21, blazer: JC Penney, bodysuit: American Apparel, skirt: H&M, tights: Target, flats: Sears, bag: Clarks

Of course I’ve gone monocrome black and added accents of gold with my necklace and buckled flats. Within the past few years I’ve really come to love all-black outfits like these that mix and match different textures. Bright colors and patterns can be fun, but looks like Demi’s still pack a lot of visual interest while looking more sophisticated. These patterned tights from Target are my go-to pair when I want to spice up an outfit. Because they’re black, they match many more outfits than something like a solid hot pink pair would and they look less overwhelming to the rest of the look. Demi’s also rocking patterned tights but hers are the Sheer Spiral Tights from American Apparel. I’m also wearing the Gloria Mesh Bodysuit from American Apparel which is not like anything that Demi has on, but a lot of Demi’s look is about the attitude it conveys and I thought this top did that.

We think its tremendous popularity is proof that the 2012 Corolla offers the ideal blend of comfort, value and safety. In it, you’ll find a surprising number of high-end features, like available Display Audio system. It offers remarkable performance and fuel efficiency, plus an impressive list of standard safety features. Factor in its legendary reliability, and it’s even more apparent that Corolla is the smart choice.

Thank you! Whenever my hair looks like a mess I just pile it all to one side and it instantly looks so much better haha. Less frizz & more volume.
